Roles: Planning Consultancy
3BM were appointed by Kier Construction, on behalf of Essex County Council, to obtain planning consent for a new Alternative Provision school in Colchester, Essex. It will provide education for children that are unable to go to a mainstream schools.
The project required detailed negotiations with planning and highways officers, as well as the local community. The site had been fenced off from a playing field serving an adjoining secondary school. To satisfy Sport England, the project team successfully identified off-site mitigation in the form of improvements to nearby swimming pool facilities. The project gained planning consent with zero pre-commencement planning conditions to assist the project programme and timely delivery of an essential new school.
